How to Install a SpinOlution Drive Band

Monarch: Remove the peg from the center hub of the drive wheel to release the treadle arm. Loop the drive band behind the arm, reinsert the peg to secure the treadle, then loop the band under the drive wheel and over the flyer, stretching it onto a whorl.

Echo / Pollywog: Lift the treadles to open the treadle hub. Thread the drive band through the hub so it sits along the bottom of the drive wheel, then close the hub. Bring the band up around the flyer, place it on a whorl, and stretch it around the drive wheel. If needed, place the band on the drive wheel first, then stretch it onto the whorl.

Hopper: Place the thin drive band around the head and flywheel. Place the thick drive band around the metal whorl behind the treadles and into the groove behind the handle. For higher ratios, move the thick band to the larger whorl behind the handle.

Firefly: Drape the drive band around the head before screwing it into the base so it hangs behind the whorl. Secure the head, then loop the band around the shiny metal groove in the motor and place it on a middle whorl. Ratio changes are not required, as speed is controlled by the motor.

Black Residue from the Drive Band
Some black residue from normal use is expected. Simply wipe it off the wheel and band with a damp cloth.
