How can I update my MACH II from the 8 oz flyer to a 16 oz or 32 oz flyer?

To upgrade your MACH II to a 16 oz or 32 oz flyer, contact your local dealer.

You will need to order a Flyer in that size for the MACH (not an Upgrade, which includes the Head, Flyer, Bobbin, and Orifice bar - but JUST a Flyer which does not include the Head but includes all the other pieces you need to get spinning) - your dealer can order this part for you and have it shipped to your address.

What is the white residue on my bearings near the treadle?

If you notice Residue on the bearings of your wheel, that is caused by the finish of the wood rubbing off on the bearings. You can take a dry cloth to wipe this residue off. A small amount of residue is normal. However, if you notice the residue when troubleshooting for other wheel issues - it's possible it's been caused by a misaligned treadle.

If you suspect your treadle is no longer in alignment, email videos to help@spinolution.com for troubleshooting.

How do I repair a hairline fracture or crack in the wood of my wheel?

You can easily fill any wood cracks with glue and a clamp. Here is how:

  • Using white wood glue, lay a bit at the crack and use your finger to push the glue into the crack, adding more glue until the crack is filled.

  • Clamp on either side of the wood where the crack is

  • Glue will come out after you set the clamp - this is normal

  • Wipe with a damp clean cloth and set for 12 hours

The glue is stronger than the wood, so repairing a crack with glue makes that area the strongest point in the wood - which may prevent future cracking as well.

It is good once a year to thoroughly look over your wheel to make sure you don't see any hairline cracks and to fill those with glue.

SpinOlution Wheels are Finished in Clear Lacquer. To clean, use furniture polish.

Why is my treadle making a knocking noise?

20507246_10155426461900449_9208835495584172998_o.jpg

NEW: Current SpinOlution wheel models have a band on top of the treadle hub to keep it closed as a permanent fix.

The knocking is happening because the oval treadle is opening up and hitting the bearings instead of staying closed around the bearings. This could be caused in a change of humidity causing the wood to shrink and the treadle to loosen and open.

Temporary Fix: Put a rubber band around the outside of the treadle to keep it from opening. Just in case you are traveling with your wheel to a new environment (especially a dry climate) it would be a good idea to bring a rubber band with you just in case the wood of your wheel is effected by that new climate.

Permanent Fix: Add 3 layers of painters tape to the inside of the treadle (so that it is hidden), and gently close the treadle to secure. This should resolve the knocking.

If you are still having knocking issues, email photos of your wheel (including treadle and any information regarding how you've tried to resolve the issue) to info@spinolution.com and we will help you troubleshoot.

Who is responsible for paying import fees and taxes on overseas orders?

Customers are responsible for paying any import fees & taxes that their country may add to their purchase upon arrival. SpinOlution will not ship wheels as "gifts" or "samples" - as this removes our ability to insure the packages against damage. Every wheel is insured, so if it arrives damaged or destroyed, it can be replaced at no cost to the customer.

International Dealers can add all fees (shipping costs, taxes, import fees, customs) to their price of SpinOlution wheels so customers know the full price before purchase.

What is this strange little peg that is included in my Studio package?

If you have ordered a package deal or a skein winder, you'll receive a little wooden peg. This peg goes into the first hole of one of the arms of the skein winder to secure the end of your yarn into the hole so it doesn't fall off the skein winder when you begin to wind. It also helps you remember where the beginning of your yarn is. Simply place your yarn tail into the hole, secure with the peg, and begin winding off the bobbin and onto the skein winder using either the 1-yard or 2-yard arms.
