Pollywog User Guide

The Pollywog is a lightweight wheel designed for the young and young at heart.
Without the accelerator, the Pollywog has three ratios (Low, Medium, High) which are 1:2.5, 1:4.5, and 1:10 respectively. The Pollywog Accelerator has 10 ratios, and here is how you can find them. On the back of the head you will find three speeds for the drive band. Only the two fastest (smaller) speeds work with the accelerator. These speeds are labeled HL for "Head Low" and HH for "Head High". High ratios are faster, and smaller. Low ratios are slower and larger. Think Low = Slow. HH is the smallest whorl on the back of the head, and HL is the whorl right above that one.
The accelerator has 4 speeds. The drive band (B) goes from the wheel onto one of the three faster whorls. The accelerator (A) drive band goes from the head to the two slower whorls. I have numbered the whorls from fastest (smallest) to slowest (largest). The smallest whorl is #1 and the largest whorl is #4.
Following is a Ratio Map for your Pollywog. Here are two examples of how to read the map
- HH + A4 + B1 = 1:22 is read, "High Head Speed + Accelerator on Whorl #4 + Drive Band on Whorl #1 has a ratio of 1:22"
- HL + A3 + B2 = 1:5 is read, "Head Low Speed + Accelerator on Whorl #3 + Drive Band on Whorl #2 has a ratio of 1:5"
POLLYWOG RATIO MAP
- HH + A4 + B1 = 1:22
- HH + A4 + B2 = 1:15
- HH + A4 + B3 = 1:13
- HH + A3 + B1 = 1:17
- HH + A3 + B2 = 1:11
- HL + A4 + B1 = 1:10
- HL + A4 + B2 = 1:7
- HL + A4 + B3 = 1:6
- HL + A3 + B1 = 1:8
- HL + A3 + B2 = 1:5
In closing, the complete list of ratios for the Pollywog + Accelerator is: 1:5, 1:6, 1:7, 1:8, 1:10, 1:11, 1:13, 1:15, 1:17, 1:22
